Westerwelle urges Belgrade to accept Kosovo's independence.

Zagreb, September 26 .- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Guido Westerwelle, in Belgrade today urge the Government of Serbia to accept Kosovo's independence.

"The independent Kosovo is a reality and the opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has confirmed unambiguously," German minister said today in the rectory of the University of Belgrade, according to Serbian, ffxiv gil, news agency "Tanjug" .

Alluded to the recent opinion of the ICJ confirmed the legality of the unilateral declaration of sovereignty of Kosovo, while not binding and has been rejected by Belgrade.

Westerwelle asked the Serbs to face "the reality" to seek reconciliation and dialogue with Pristina, which recommended to do under mediation of the European Union (EU).

The head of German diplomacy, gaia gold, Belgrade advise not to try to make territorial changes on Kosovo, insisting that to promote dialogue with the Kosovo Albanians must seek help from the EU, not the UN.

Westerwelle was convinced that the future of Serbia is in the EU and said his country supports this orientation, but believed that to achieve this goal lies ahead "a long and arduous road."

The visit comes two weeks before the expected debate (Sept. 9) at the UN General Assembly on a resolution on Kosovo by Serbia, which does not recognize the independence of the territory they still considered their inalienable province.
